I really enjoyed your critique of the filmmaking and storytelling and greatly appreciate your notes and feedback. I would like to share with you that 'The Miranda Murders' is not meant to be "enjoyed" or watched as a movie, but as a taboo oddity (much like the Faces of Death films). Lake and Ng were literal monsters and this film is their home movie, incoherency and all. Nothing more. There is a lot to unpack and speculate on, but just like a video of a live decapitation, the lure of watching this film is that morbid curiosity and the takeaway is a genuine sense of uneasiness and a stark reminder that there are extremely ugly people out there who are not to be admired or celebrated, but perhaps studied and understood as sick. The sinking feeling that "this is real" is an unholy reminder that something about this film is simply not ok, generating real life horror. Unlike a film such as The Devils Rejects, which tackles the subject of similarly ill-moral beings (albeit fictional) and their struggles, you are not supposed to cheer Lake and Ng on or relate to them in any meaningful manner. In fact, a proper watch of The Miranda Murders is meant to punish you if you go into it thinking you're about to watch a compelling story, with character arcs of individuals who go through a Joseph Campbell-esque Hero's Journey. This does not negate your feedback in the slightest, but I hope it provides context to the original purpose behind producing the film.

Despite this seemingly very mean spirited creation, we felt a strong need to provide actual good to this world through it, the production team donates 100% of the profits from the film to charities such as RAINN, March of Dimes, the Heifer Foundation, and Three Square and we will continue to do so for all who sit to endure this torture.

Also, the movie is absolutely implying that Cricket at the bare minimum was far more knowledgable of Lake and Ng's crimes and was far more compliant than she let on. How much, is certainly up to the audience.

Thank you again for taking the time to review our film and provide this extremely in depth analysis of it. Excellent work.

~Matt RosvallyMatt Rosvallyhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/13116535525328896623noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2451838183910864405.post-58730229931553292272022-02-01T16:21:38.540-08:002022-02-01T16:21:38.540-08:00Stupid...nothing left to dayStupid...nothing left to dayAnonymoushttps://www.blogger.com/profile/04295064300653240485noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2451838183910864405.post-1818226819725539062022-01-28T20:04:13.420-08:002022-01-28T20:04:13.420-08:00Whoa Nelly.

The droll characterizations are not attractive to young minds who expect flamboyant personalities....."
Indeed! When will these "young minds" wake up, smell the coffee and realize that flash and dazzle is no substitute for poignant storytelling?

When I bought Watership Down in videocassette format and played it for my brother-in-law, sister, niece and two nephews, my eldest nephew actually screamed out loud when General Woundwort leapt to avoid being pounced upon by the "dog on the loose."
I remember thinking how cool it was that my nephew could be so genuinely affected by an animated film.
Good storytelling leaves marks on the soul, doesn't it?
And the film version of Watership Down indeed left a mark on my soul.

Didn't you just love it when Bigwig, in mortal combat with General Woundwort, astonishes the General by saying: "My Chief Rabbit has told me to defend this run and until he says otherwise I shall stay here."
It never occurred to the villainous General that Bigwig was NOT the "Chief."
And the irony is rich, because, at the beginning of the film, Bigwig doesn't strike the viewer as someone who would go out of his way, let alone sacrifice himself, to protect others.
And yet, by film's end, here he is, taking orders from Hazel and defending his 'warren' - at any cost to himself.

Just so you know:
I appreciate the time and intelligence that has been expended in the composition of this review.
It is well-written, thought-provoking, and has also left a mark on my soul.....
As good writing (alas, all too rare nowadays) invariably does.

PhiL >^•_•^<PhiLiP s. None of the other movies had the gumption to go there. He did. Jesus survived the beatings, torture, ridicule, and carrying His cross because it's what really happened. A man known as James came and helped Jesus. Perhaps reading the Bible might help you understand why this movie was made. Granted the mice and roaches were bad. Also, everything is CG pretty much except for their faces and maybe hands. Motion tracked. The problem is the music, the story, the choreography, and the characters. The lack of story could have been forgiven if the music would have been amazing.
erichttps://www.blogger.com/profile/13931800543595738051noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2451838183910864405.post-44854940937565891752019-11-25T16:58:31.151-08:002019-11-25T16:58:31.151-08:00the biggest clown is the one who left this review ...the biggest clown is the one who left this review
allahhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/12596943613768219427noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2451838183910864405.post-18690538623224669282019-11-01T13:33:06.632-07:002019-11-01T13:33:06.632-07:00GREATGREATNicolehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/16101967980858643588noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2451838183910864405.post-88624671246602446702019-10-16T19:50:29.154-07:002019-10-16T19:50:29.154-07:00Want to hear a joke?Want to hear a joke?Arthur Napierhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/08385723956641053174noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2451838183910864405.post-52392120098056681162019-08-31T08:09:35.132-07:002019-08-31T08:09:35.132-07:00There is nothing remotely absurd about the premise...There is nothing remotely absurd about the premise of Prom Night. As for the perpetrators going through life without ever confessing to anyone...I thought modern thought was all about the moral ambiguity of our species...that people are neither good or bad, but just indifferent blobs hoping to feel as good as possible while they wait to die. This conduct fits right in with that notion. As for the killer waiting to exact retribution....he was a little boy when it happened. Now, 6 years later, he's a strongly built young man. Much easier to swing an axe under these circumstances. Prom Night is one of the top 3 slasher movies of all time(along with Halloween and Friday the 13th). One of the greatest films of its' kind ever made. It was made during a wonderful time when filmmakers just did what they wanted...they weren't terrified of people like yourself. Today, inexplicably, they seem to be precisely THAT...scared to death to make a decisive move in any direction, for fear that someone, somewhere, might mock them. That's why nothing good gets MADE anymore...and why people like yourself look back on the 80's in disbelief because back then nobody cared what you thought...I can see why you would find it so unsettling...Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2451838183910864405.post-11146962746660503612019-08-10T06:49:31.299-07:002019-08-10T06:49:31.299-07:00I think you were misreading the movie a bit due to...I think you were misreading the movie a bit due to the misleading marketing. Jean didn’t really go insane or the movie’s villain, the worst she does is kill Mystique and that is an accident. The only X-Men that wanted her dead was Beast, there wasn’t much of a divide among the team.

The aliens were meant to be the villains of the movie with Jessica’s Vuk is clearly meant to be the “temptress” to Jean’s hero’s journey.Man of Sinhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/09027963356466392950noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2451838183910864405.post-91257172160355780312019-07-20T21:46:10.693-07:002019-07-20T21:46:10.693-07:00I read a few interviews with Simon Kinberg. The movie not going deep into Jean becoming the Dark Phoenix seems to be the point of the story.

In a ScreenRant interview back in May he said that he wanted the movie to tie-in into Days of Future Past and its ending. DOFP ended with Jean being alive with the X-Men implying that she never went Dark Phoenix in the new timeline and the theme of the movie was that you can evolve to change yourself and your fate. In other interviews, he said that he wanted Jean to be a hero and take control of her destiny.

Dark Phoenix opens up a voice over from Jean asking if we can evolve to change others and our destined fate, just like the voice over opening of Days of Future Past. So the movie is basically about how Jean evolved beyond Dark Phoenix and into the person we saw at the end of DOFP. How Xavier kept his promise to Wolverine to save Jean.

As for the aliens: they were originally going to be Shi'Ar and Jessica was going to be Lilandra in a two-parter(ala Avengers: Infinity War and Endgame). With only one movie Kinberg felt that he couldn’t do the Shi'ar justice and so he cut them out. But since it is an actual movie, not a tv show, Bagans seems to try to raise the stakes. Contact with the house causes actual harm to the participants we are told. Now, this is a crew of doctors and engineers so you would expect them to have taken a few basic physics classes, but apparently the writers thought the viewers were as stupid as the crew and didn't really have the creativity to explain how it worked any other way. "Justin" was there for......Reasons..... The movie didn't even attempt to be creative with other horror movie references (the Shining being the most obvious). The only compelling character was Dr. Weir. Laurence Fishburne did alright with what he had to work with, but the rest of the cast could have just as well have been replaced with cardboard cutouts. I hate this movie because they wasted a great concept by bad execution. Oh well, watch the 1979 film "Alien" instead.

Even Mortal Kombat is better than this stinker.Doug Clementhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/09338911090772598740noreply@blogger.com
